We could explain hurling–Ireland’s national obsession– to North American audiences but we think the following documentaries do it justice. The 2,000 year old tradition of Irish hurling combines the speed and skills of hockey, baseball, lacrosse and rugby. Its reputed to have replaced warfare in Ireland and despite a fantatic global following remains an amateur sport with athletes who represent their native counties in “the fastest game on grass”.
